Part II: Development policy history
In this section you should describe some aspects of the country’s development policy history. Examples of issues you can discuss:
• What strategy did this country use to pursue economic growth?
• What unique historical features have helped or harmed the level of the economy?
• Did the country pursue an industrial policy, was it effective, and how did it shape the composition of the economy today?
• Is there a past crisis that still affects the economy?
• Has the country benefitted from a particular regional grouping or location?
Use figures, tables, and citations to support your text.
Part III: Supporting tables and figures
Figures that support your arguments and descriptions in parts I and II, with captions of 50-75 words each. At least one figure should be an international comparison for the level of the overall economy compared to other countries or global/regional averages. Figures should each show a distinct aspect of the economy, rather than multiple figures for the same issue. Be varied in the types of figures you plot. Don’t just use all bar graphs, but also think about using maps, line charts, histograms or distribution plots, etc1
The best figures combine information in a way that is efficient and clearly communicates some aspect of the data, whether that’s a comparison or a contrast or an overall summary. Before plotting think carefully about what you want your figure to communicate.
Part IV: Supporting citations and references
References and citations that support your arguments and descriptions in parts I and II. These can be in any format, but to save space think of doing numerical citations in your text2. Your written sections should be thoroughly supported with citations from, preferably, academic sources. Points will be lost for unsupported claims in the text.
