Abstract

Majority of the first year students with hearing impaired disabilities in public universities in Saudi Arabia are faced with challenges of learning infrastructure and academic inclusion. This study will look at the impact of the inadequate learning infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, and lack of academic inclusion on the level of academic success among first year students with hearing disabilities.

• To determine the extent of academic success of first year students with hearing disabilities in public universities in Saudi Arabia.
• To find out how education programs and infrastructure can be improved in order to enhance academic inclusion of students with hearing                          disabilities   in public universities in Saudi Arabia.

Methods & Materials
• Triangulation Mixed Methods

• Individual Electronic Survey
• 60 First Year Hearing Impaired Students

Results/Data
• Expected findings include a lack of resources available to hearing impaired students attending public Universities in Saudi Arabia.
• Projected recommendations will be based off of this lack of support to hearing impaired students.
• Data collected from 60 female and male hearing impaired students, will provide an unbiased view of the current situation.

Conclusions/Discussion
• The level of success of deaf students is highly dependent on the kind of communication and language aids availed to them.
• Major issues exist surrounding education delivery to students with hearing problems in the public universities in Saudi Arabia.
• The research study aims at analyzing the level of success of first-year students with hearing needs in public universities.
• The programs in America that cater for students with such needs will also be considered while giving recommendations for improvements in Saudi
Arabia.
