Early feminist works

Discussion: early feminist works. In the works of Kate Chopin (especially “Desiree’s Baby) and Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s the “The Yellow Wallpaper,” we are introduced to women who are in perilous circumstances due to their health and/or station.  Both women are victims of gaslighting (Links to an external site.), a manipulative strategy to sow doubt.  How do you see this phenomenon at work in these authors’ short stories?  I’ve labeled this module as “early feminist works;” what do we make of these authors as they relate to feminism and the literature that will be produced into the 21st century.
