TOPIC: An In-Depth Look into The Justice Systems in America
Last week, you identified some piece of media or some consumer product to evaluate in a review. Some of you chose movies or television series. Some of you chose phones or albums or restaurants. Last week, you also identified the criteria you use to judge these things. Remember, criteria are the specific qualities that make something enjoyable (or not).
This week, you’ll be composing the evaluative essay. Follow the outline you composed in last week’s assignment. It goes something like this:
A. Introduction
a. Context
b. Thesis: ______ is worth the time / money because of its criteria 1, criteria 2, and criteria 3.
B. Summary (5-9 sentences)
C. Discussion of Criteria 1
D. Discussion of Criteria 2
E. Discussion of Criteria 3
F. Conclusion/ Recommendations
Remember to focus on quality judgments when discussing your criteria and not just summarizing what happens in the story. I’ve included two samples in this week’s reading. These essays are well-organized and they complete the assignment well.
