You will select one Excerpt from each chapter of reading and give a description from the questions asked of you. Musical Excerpts Journal #1 will include Chapters 1-11 for a total of 11 excerpts (4 pages) and Musical Excerpts Journal #2 will include Chapters 12-28 for a total of 17 excerpts (6 pages). The excerpts are videos marked “Excerpt” on the Course Schedule and on Canvas in Modules under “Weekly Schedule.” They are visual/aural reinforcement to the reading. I expect that you are working on your journal weekly. Please organize your Musical Excerpts Journals into separate paragraphs (one paragraph) for each excerpt. Please do not re- write the questions, but form organized sentences instead. The PDF document “How to Analyze the Elements of Music” will be a helpful source. The titles of musicals are italicized and the titles of songs are in quotation marks. Please do not use your everyday vernacular (so, like, really, just, a lot, such as, definitely, etc..) and do not write how you would speak in an everyday conversation. Journals will be evaluated on format, originality, organization, content, writing mechanics, and use of musical theatre vocabulary.
