Classmate’s draft: Why Artificial Intelligence Is Good

Instructions:
Read your classmate’s draft. You can view the essay by clicking on “View Feedback,” or you can download the draft by clicking on the name of your classmate’s file.

You will NOT use a rubric to review each essay. Rather, you will write constructive and substantive comments in a Word Doc or Google Doc.
Please think about three revisions you would suggest to the writer to strengthen the paper. A few aspects you may consider include the following:
Content, such as a strong thesis statement, evidence and support of ideas; use of at least 5 outside resources;
Organization, such as topic sentences, transitional words and phrases;
MLA formatting, paraphrasing, quoting, and incorporating resources ethically and correctly;
Grammar, punctuation, and style (in general).
Open a Word document or Google Doc. State your three suggestions for revision, referring to examples from the paper under review to illustrate your suggestions. Your peer review should be three solid paragraphs, each one making a suggestion for revision with a few examples from your peer’s paper to illustrate.

Grading:

Your instructor will review your peer reviews and assign a grade based on how thoroughly you reviewed each classmate’s essay and provided constructive feedback. Each peer review is worth 10 points.

This criterion is linked to a Learning Outcome Introduction/Thesis:
Comment on the introduction paragraph and the thesis. Note how the introduction grabs your interest. Include remarks on the clarity, placement and effectiveness of the thesis to focus the essay.

Topic Sentences:

Comment on the topic sentences. Note how each topic sentence clearly introduces and focuses each support paragraph. Include how well the writer connects back to the thesis and if the topic sentence covers all the supporting details of the paragraph.

Outcome Evidence/Analysis:

Comment on the evidence and analysis developed in the essay. Note how effectively the evidence/analysis explains and supports the main point of each paragraph. Include how the writer uses and effectively integrates quotes into the writing.

Outcome Counterargument/Refutation:

Comment on the how the writer integrates counterargument/refutation into the body of the essay. Note if the writer has develop sufficient evidence to acknowledge a different perspective.

Conclusion:

Comment on the conclusion. Note how the writer includes final thoughts/summary about the essay topic and connects back to the thesis.

Works Cited:
Comment on the Works Cited. Note how the writer has followed MLA style in formatting the page and individual citations.
