The Future of Terrorism

The Future of Terrorism

The Future of Terrorism. Since 9/11, national policy has greatly expanded intelligence agencies, institutions dedicated to homeland security, and expended billions of dollars and millions of man-hours…all dedicated to keeping Americans safe from the threat of terrorism.

Yet Gus Martin (2018) states in your textbook that “the true terrorist wants [sic] to enrage the beast’ within the state and is encouraged when the enemy becomes a genuine instrument of repression” (p.446). He then concludes (as Mao Zedong does as well) that terrorists will not long survive if “the state successfully dries up the sea of the people’s support for the extremists” (p. 446).

For your initial post, argue whether you agree or disagree with Martin’s conclusion, and why. Use what you have researched and learned to support your argument. Then respond to at least two other students that offer a different perspective than your own.
