Take one of the folktales that you read for this week and find at least 5 of Propp’s functions within it (go ahead and find more, if you can!).  For example, where in Hansel and Gretel do we see a struggle (XVI)?  A victory (XVIII)?  Choose whatever story you like, and be specific with what part of the narrative you’re connecting to a particular function.

there should be at least 5 in each (even in “The Beam”!).  Sometimes identifying the morphology of a tale is a matter of opinion, so some of you may disagree about how the functions show up in a given tale; just make sure you support your reasoning solidly with examples. If you found anything especially difficult or hard to pin down (sometimes the same action can fulfill several functions, or sometimes the same function appears more than once),
