(1) Read Simon Frith’s essay “The Voice” and the first four pages of Ian Biddle’s essay “Gender nostalgia and the vocal fantasy of intimacy.” Summarize three or four of Frith’s main points about listening to a singer in popular music in your own words and Biddle’s main points about Gender and vocal timbre.
(2) Keeping in mind the more important points from these essays, listen closely to three songs.
