Select and read a book authored by a high-profile coach or written about a coach
For this project you will need to select and read a book authored by a high-profile coach or written about a coach. My suggestion is to do some research and find a coach from a sport you are interested in or a college team/ professional team that you follow as I want you to enjoy the book. If you want guidance in finding a book please don’t hesitate to ask.
Your task after reading the book is to identify and justify FOUR factors that you feel have influenced the success and leadership of the coach. That is, what characteristics, behaviors, attributes, have influenced his or her effectiveness as a leader? You can justify by citing from the book, describing a situation that illustrated the attribute, etc. Additionally, you are to tie this information into what the textbook tells us about leadership effectiveness – that is, does it support “science”? Read the book with an open mind and reflect on why you think the
coach is an effective leader (as opposed to reading the book “looking” for certain characteristics that you read about or we discussed in class).
Note that this is NOT to be a summary of the book but rather an evaluation as it relates to effective leadership.
