Victim Assistance

National Databases like VINELink is essential for keeping victims in the know of their accuser while incarcerated. However, receiving constant reminders of the accuser’s movements can cause the victim to have flashbacks, thoughts of the accuser coming after them, sleep disturbances, and constant fear. When the victim receives notification the accuser is about to be released from prison, a range of emotions can hit and they may feel their life is in danger and they must react fast. They could very well experience rape trauma syndrome again in its intensity.

I am registered with a link similar to VINE Link that provides me with information on two inmates. This helps me to know where they are; when they are being moved from one place to another; and how close it is before they are released. But, it also affects me indifference ways because it is a constant reminder of the crime they have committed against you or someone you care about, especially if it involves killing a person you deeply loved, and it affects your daily life once you receive a text or call from the link, it throws your daily routine off because all you can think and talk about for that day is the person that is locked up.
