Exploring bioinformatics databases

Exploring bioinformatics databases

During Module 2, we have explored several bioinformatics databases and performed several searches.

  • Please identify another bioinformatics database that has not been already covered in lectures. It could be another NCBI database, or from another institute in the US or abroad.
  • In a brief paragraph (about 5-10 sentences), please describe this database: website link, what kind of data it stores, some interesting features, etc. Using the database searches from lecture as an example (e.g., dbSNP), describe an interesting search that you have performed on your database of choice and comment on the results (brief paragraph, about 5-10 sentences).

Click “Reply” to post your original response early in the week. Then return later in the session to respond to the post of at least two other classmates. Please post your response(s) by the end of the course module.
