Evaluate the special ethical challenges that are unique to the population you are addressing.

In preparation for the final paper, I am offering you some organizational tips. By following these basic guidelines you will be making my grading of your paper much easier and will possibly add extra points.

You will combine parts 1 and 2 with part 3. Review all of the feedback from your previous parts 1 and 2 and edit into one paper. Points can be lost for missing information, required parts, grammar, punctuation, and format. Headings must be used!

Here are some sample headings for your final project–you can change them according to your title/topic of course, but be sure to include the appropriate content. Overall, this will be a 12-15 page paper. Check APA format for the correctness of references, etc. References from scholarly sources should be used, the more the better. Use the course text for supporting concepts.

Introduction (the title of the paper should be written as your first heading in non-bold font) with a purpose statement (The purpose of this paper is….)

Background of issue/problem describe your selected population health issue and population affected, significance and explanation using references for support, and your own experience-this should be a couple of paragraphs

Advocacy Campaigns-Summarize the two advocacy campaigns you researched in this area, explain the attributes that made the campaigns effective

Developing a Health Advocacy Campaign-Discuss the development of your advocacy campaign that seeks to create a new policy or change to an existing policy with regard to the issue and population.

Include a description of the public health issue and proposed policy solution with specific objectives you want to be implemented and substantiate your plan with data and evidence.

Explain whether your proposed policy could be enacted through a modification of existing law or regulation or creation of new legislation/regulation

Explain how existing laws or regulations could affect your advocacy efforts-be sure to cite and reference laws and regulations using PRIMARY sources

Provide an analysis of the methods you could use to influence legislators or other policymakers to support your policy–using the 3 legs of lobbying in your advocacy efforts

Summarize obstacles that could arise in the legislative process and how to overcome these hurdles

Ethical Considerations-Explain any ethical dilemmas that could arise during your advocacy campaign and how you will resolve them (do not dismiss this section by stating there are no ethical issues). The ANA Code of Ethics provisions # 7,8, and 9 should be included and discussed.
