** Location/approximate time of day when deviant act(s) occurred.
** How your particular act of deviance was committed (were you with someone when you committed this deviant act? were you someplace that you go on a regular basis or was this someplace entirely new to you? what was your general personal appearance at the time you committed this act?) As a side note, if you dressed the same way for the second or third acts of deviance, then you may simply say that you were dressed the same as you were for the original deviant activity. However, if your dress varied, then please state this as well.
** Who was the audience to this act of deviance? (Who was there to see this activity?) Where were they located physically in relation to yourself? Describe the individuals approximate ages (e.g. 30s, late 40s, early 50s, early 80s), sex, and general dress. (**The reason that I want approximate age is to avoid loaded descriptions such as “elderly.” To someone who is twenty, any individual aged 50 might appear “elderly,” but to those of us over 35, the larger number no longer looms as large. There are many folks in their 80s who are more active than those in their teens.
** How did the audience react or seem to interpret your deviant act? Tell me about their physical reactions or their verbal remarks to you about your particular social deviant act.
** Were there any consequences for your having committed this deviant act? In other words, was anyone angry with you, or did a boss request to speak with you about your dress or behavior? (In one case I heard of a boss who was extremely happy when an employee changed his usual personal appearance This happened when one of my students wore a three-piece suit to work for a week to his job in sales at a car dealership- the employee received a monetary bonus due to his upgraded appearance). sales
