Analyze One of The International Relations Problems Through the Perspective of Two to Three of The Major Theoretical Approaches
In this paper, you will be expected to analyze one of the international relations problems presented in class through the perspective of perspective of two to three of the major theoretical approaches commonly used in international relations studies (Realism, Liberalism, Constructivism) and at most one of the lesser used approaches (Feminism, Marxism, etc.). In this paper, you will be expected to draw upon arguments and literature from both texts discussed in class along with the wider political science literature, as well as argue which theoretical approach has the most validity in its assessment of the international relations problem and which approach/approaches has/have the least validity in their assessment.
The paper should feature at a minimum two theoretical approaches and at maximum three, where you should argue in favor of only one as being the most relevant and one as being less relevant, with detailed reasoning as to why you believe this to be the case. Should you choose to analyze three theoretical approaches, again you should only argue for one of the three being best suited to analysis of the international relations problem, arguing that the third approaches the mark or also lacks relevance to tackling the problem.
The goal of this paper is to both ensure your comprehension of the various theoretical approaches in international relations and also for you to demonstrate your knowledge on a specific international relations problem discussed in class. As such, the focus of your paper should be on how the problem affects international relations, what each perspective you analyze says is the best way to handle said problem, and what approach you believe is best suited in its analysis of the problem. You will be expected to conduct research into your chosen international relations problem, finding scholarly articles not assigned in class or other high-quality articles, either on the UB Library, Google Scholar, or through other high-quality search methods.
