Analysis Writing; We are all familiar with book, movie, television reviews. However, writing an analysis of a movie is something quite different as it simply another type of literary analysis. The primary differences are that A. you must use sources, B. it must be written in 3rd person. When someone does a review/evaluation the writer decides before they watch, go to, experience a place or thing, what criteria they will use for their evaluation. What aspects of that being evaluated are MOST important?

Requirements:

  1. 3.0 complete pages assuming correct APA formatting and font size
  2. Complete the Movie Information Worksheet & Notes(handed out in class)
  3. References page, abstract page and correct APA citations/style both within the essay and on the References page.
  4. Use of 2-3 sources and the movie. Other than the movie, sources must be “A” level sources and students must turn in a source evaluation checklist with their final paper.
    • Sources cannot be reviews of the movie
    • Sources must be from either: scholarly journals or other scholarly sources.
  5. An analysis paper is not a synopsis/summary of the movie, though you will need examples to prove the points of your evaluation Excessive “telling” of the story/ plot/ “what happened” will result in a failing grade.
  6. Students must include one analysis paragraph of how the movie addresses at least ONE, preferably two American values.
    points per day will be deducted from the paper grade for any paper submitted after 11:59PM Feb 2. If the paper is not turned in 11:59PM Sunday, it will not be accepted at all and will receive a ZERO grade.
    All papers must be submitted via Safe Assign. I will not accept them by email or other source. any
