Instructions
View the three case scenario videos provided. Choose one of these scenarios. You are to justify the need for an education event tailored for the character in the scenario.
This event may either be in the form of an individual education session, or a group education event to a group of similar target population individuals (NOTE: Part A contains the justification and Part B the details of the event).
To justify the need for such an event you must use evidence, as nursing is an evidence based profession. Use the principles of the Nursing Process and/or the Clinical Reasoning Cycle. Consider
who, when, why.
To do this you should address the following key points:
 Who is your target group and which NHPA/s are you addressing?
 What are the health issues/risks related to your chosen NHPA/s?
 What are the health issues/risks specific to your character?
 Provide some statistics to support your discussion.
 Consider cultural differences within your group and the Australian setting.
IN ADDITION TO THE VIDEO MATERIALS AVAILABLE FOR SHI104
After having viewed the three case scenario videos provided, please choose one of these three scenarios. This one choice will be your focus for Assessment 2 – for both Part A and Part B.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR RHONDA
The scenario you need to consider to complete these assessments, is that you are a third-year nursing student and you have been placed in the Community Health Setting where Rhonda lives. This may be the local Community Health Centre. As part of your placement you are to conduct an education session. This session may be an
individual education session (one on one) with Rhonda, or it may be a group session (with clients with similar backgrounds and physical conditions as Rhonda). You can choose which you prefer/or which might be more suitable for Rhonda. You must first identify and then justify the need for such a session with your evidence (PART A) and then conduct this session (PART B). See the assessment briefs for the detail.
